Definition of the Abdomen
by Luna Miguel, translated by Luis Silva
Everything lies between the breasts and the vagina. Everything that matters
is and will continue to be even if perhaps the clouds go dry
and all that endures is grass, a ton of grass, hidden under the rug.
I am the pet. And the pet takes herself out for a walk
in an act of rebellion. The pet has never seen summer.
The pet eats herself in an act of love. The pet
has organs and everything can be found between the breasts and the vagina.
How can we define the abdomen. How does
the rib cage hide so much gray matter. The stomach lies
between the breasts and the vagina. Farther than or closer than the ribs. Farther than or closer
than the pet’s love.
Everything aligns itself and the grass endures.
